Whole Grains and Complex Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates can be found in most types of food. However the carbohydrates that are consumed should be of excellent quality. The quality and the quantity of the carbohydrates that we eat directly affect our health over the long term as well as on a short term basis. Whole grains are one of the greatest sources of complex carbohydrates and also have he much needed vitamins.

Oats

Another source of high quality carbohydrates is provided by oats. Oats are whole grains or cereals and can be consumed in various forms and also recipes. Cookies with raw and whole oats are becoming exceedingly popular due to their food value. The oats provide the consumer with an excellent quality and also quantity of daily energy fibers. Crushed oats and also the flour of oats can be used to provide the exact amount of carbohydrates that are absolutely necessary in a person diet. Famous nutritionist Gillian McKeith is a proponent of eating oats and other foods that contain complex carbohydrates. Oats also have cholesterol lowering property. In the category of cereals, oats have one of the highest lipid content.

Other Whole Grain Sources

Another whole grain or cereal that provides an excellent source of carbohydrates is the Azuki bean. The Azuki bean is mostly cultivated in the south East Asia. It is also very prominently cultivated and also consumed in the Indian sub continent. The bean that is cultivated in the lower Himalayas is said to be of the best quality. Many of the grains, cereals and legumes when consumed give a very good quality and also quantity of much needed carbohydrates.
